What is the difference between a Cornice and a Pelmet?
Think of them as the “frame” for your wall cabinets. A Cornice is the decorative molding that sits on top of the cabinet, drawing the eye upward and adding height. A Pelmet (or Light Pelmet) sits underneath the wall cabinet, primarily used to hide under-cabinet lighting and wiring while providing a neat, finished edge to the bottom of the unit.
Are plinths necessary, or can I leave the cabinet legs exposed?
Plinths (or kickboards) are essential for a built-in aesthetic. They serve two purposes: aesthetically, they ground your kitchen by closing the gap between the units and the floor; practically, they prevent dust, debris, and stray items from accumulating in the hard-to-reach void beneath your cupboards.
How do I choose the right style of moulding for my kitchen?
